S hankarah Osiris Lessey was born on 5th March 1986 in the little town of Point Fortin in the island of Trinidad in the southern Caribbean. Shankarah lived in Granville, a small fishing village on the south- western end of the island.

His late father, Anslem ‘Slim’ Lessey was a Math and Physics teacher while his mother, Ada Joy Ramkerrysingh is a retired English and Literature teacher. Shankarah has two other siblings, an older brother named Khufrah and a younger sister Candace who is nine years younger than him.


Shankarah and Khufrah studied Engineering at the Regional University in the West Indies up to the Masters level, Khufrah studying Petroleum Engineering and Shankarah Coastal Engineering. Candace took a different route and studied Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where she is now in her 4th year. Shankarah was always exposed to writing at an early age taking a liking to classical novels such as the Chrysalids, To Kill a Mockingbird, a Midsummer Night’s Dream and Men and Gods. It was only after completing his MBA he started to fully delve into his writing and bring to life his debut fictional series he has been working on since he was 14, Raven Maeghus and the Guardian Spirits of Elysia. This Guardian Spirit series began with a little pet he had when he was nine, a baby iguana called Fred.
